New England Film Contest Calls for Entries
PORTLAND, Maine, March 21, 2008-Proven in the Northeast is now accepting submissions for it's 4th annual boardsports film festival and contest .
Filmmakers of all abilities are invited to submit films of seven minutes or less that have elements of surfing, skateboarding and/or snowboarding in New England. There is no fee to enter.
"It doesn't matter if you're seven or 70, if you've never picked up a camera or you've been cranking out films in your basement for years-this contest is open to everyone," said contest coordinator and filmmaker Ben Keller "The caliber of films gets better every year. We are really excited for this years festival!"
Proven in the Northeast was established to encourage filmmakers of all levels to creatively express their ideas about boardriding in New England and have their work seen by a large audience.
"Last year's incredible contest proved that New England is home to some seriously talented amateur filmmakers and boardriders," said Keller. "And with the addition of the Peoples Choice online contest and the TV special that is airing on the RSN network, we have been able to bring their films to an even wider audience on the web, and broadcast nationwide."
EDITORS/REPORTERS: If you'd like a still shot from one of last year's winning films, please call (207) 318-8268.
Determined by a panel of film and action sports media professionals who will judge the entries' concept, originality, and stoke, ten finalists will receive prizes, including a digital production package and exposure on national sports network RSN for some of the winning entrants. The top ten entries will be shown in November 2007 at a public screening in New England. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Northern New England Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation.
Submissions on VHS, MiniDV or DVD should be sent by August 31, 2008, with entrant's name, mailing address, phone number and e-mail address to Proven In The Northeast, P.O. Box 5134, Portland, ME 04101. All filmmakers will receive notification that their film has been received.
