Though John and I have spent the last few years traveling up and down the east coast, and all over America, promoting our surf company, and though we have spent many hours on the roofs of different buildings adjusting cams, or in our office at a computer working on the website.

We are not the only ones who made Northeast Surfing LLC what it is today. I knew nothing about a computer when I started this site, but I did know one thing, I wanted an ocean sports site dedicated to the Northeast, by Northeast Ocean sports people. It took a long time to get the site traffic, or recognition that we now get today, and we are still growing. But we owe a lot of this to the many people who have helped us along the way. One person that comes to mind, is a man by the name of David Brunke.

I met David a few years back when he was running his own web site he called nantasketbeach.com. It was right from the start that I could tell that he was a great guy.

David helped me learn web site design, and gave me the tools that I needed to do so. David spent hours of his own time putting together our servers for our first cams, the Nantasket Beach Hull cam, and our first Newport cam. He built both cam servers using his own computers which he donated to our site.

All this and he never asked me for anything in return. Sometimes I felt like I was being a pain, but when I asked him, he just laughed. We spent time emailing each other, stopping by each others homes, and talking on the phone. In the short time I knew David, I found him to be a sweet, giving, person, who loved life, his family, his work, and his town.

I last spoke to David in October of 2006, he told me that his health was making a turn for the worse. I was leaving to go to California, he wished me good luck, and told me that we would talk when I returned home.

David died November 4, 2006 at the age of 41. I never got the chance to talk to him again. I can’t even imagine what his family and close friends must be going though. I know that John and I are really upset that he is gone. It is something that really bothers me, and he is someone that we will never forget. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email us.
